They finally meet!

Twinner cousins Ashlynn and Emma finally meet after a month of life, and all Ashlynn can do is punch Emma in the face?!?! Some cousin! JK Emma did it first. :) This was so funny, all they did laying here was cry and make the same little "newbie noises" as I like to call them. They even had synchronized leg kicks. Too cute! BFF's already!

(That is if we can get them to quit punching each other ;))

My Baby is TWO!

"What you talkin 'bout, Willis?" The face of a two year old!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?! Sheesh! My little girl is getting so big! We had tons of fun celebrating Jentri's birthday this last week! (Her actual birthday is the 4th) When we woke up that morning I was all ready to make her a big breakfast of whatever she wanted, but all she wanted was chocolate milk and Cheerios. Works for me! She did get to spend some time during the day with Grandma Price, which she loves. Lately whenever Jake comes home and asks what she did today, she says "I go in Gwamma's car" and most times she hasn't that day. Just wishful thinking on her part, I guess. She loves her Grandmas! Anyway, Jen wanted pizza for dinner so when Jake got home from work we splurged and went to Pizza Factory. (YUM!) Jen loves "peppa-oni" and "oot beeah." She's definitely Jake's kid!

She is so into anything Dora right now, so we had a few little Dora decorations, including a balloon that was as big if not bigger than Jen! I made the mistake of not asking how much it was--just for the record, they're expensive! $6.95 for a balloon?! Yikes!! Luckily she loved it, so that made it worth it. Here she is putting it in the cute hamper she got for her birthday. She was pretty proud of herself, she's so funny.

Her favorite present though was her bike. It was the one thing Jake said she needed for her birthday and we found a pretty good deal at Walmart. We gave her the helmet first, and she was a little confused as to what it was. She looked it over for a sec then said, "Iss fo my knees!" (she's saying that in this picture)then put it on her knees. Classic! We explained that it goes on your head when you ride a bike, to which she said, "Oh, my bike hat!" I think we know that it will never be called a helmet again. :) Jake brought in the bike, and she got so excited, jumping up and down and saying, "my bike, my bike, my bike!" She was almost too excited to get on it! She hasn't quite got the pedal thing down and she's still a little small for it, but she still loves to sit on it and sing about her bike. Too bad it snowed the day after her birthday, because we haven't been able to try it outside yet. Bummer!

I still can't believe she's 2 already. We're so glad she's ours! She's such a sweetheart, and I know I complain about the occasional tantrum/ meltdown, but she really is such a sweet girl. She makes me laugh every day with just the things she says and notices. She's so aware of everything and everyone. She takes care of us, and is sometimes downright bossy! :) Lately at bedtime she'll choose a stuffed animal and a book for her to take in her bed, and another one for whoever is putting her to bed. She'll say, "Mommy want the duck and the elmo book." I'm so glad she knows what I want! She even cried one time because I forgot and left it in her room. She also goes through and makes sure she knows where everyone in the family is before she'll lay down. "Daddy at wuk" "Emma sweeping (sleeping)" She'll sometimes tell me what I should be doing after I leave her room too like "Mommy go feed Emma" or "take a shower" or even "Mommy go potty" What would I do without her?! I just have to laugh. What a cutie.

I'm so blessed to have her and to be her mom. How'd we get so lucky!?! There's more I want to post, but I'll wrap it up for now. Happy Birthday, my sweet Jentri Ann!

Emma's Story--Katie's more detailed version:)

Today's the official due date, and I can't believe she's been here 10 days already! And it feels like every time I sit down to write something, something else comes up so I'm just going to put a few pics with captions and see how far I get... Most of this is for my own documentation, so I won't be offended if you just check out the pics. I'm told I give too many details, which is probably true but I like to remember little details, so bear with me. :) Our sweet Emma Lee at just about a day old. She didn't waste any time getting here, that's for sure! Here's a little timeline for the night:

6:30 PM- My brother in law Casey calls and says my sister Kristi's water broke and he'd keep us posted.
6:35 PM- I'm cursing because she was due a whole 4 days after me and was having her baby first. How dare she! :)

12:00ish Midnight-I start feeling a few contractions that were a litle more intense than Braxtons, and I hadn't heard from Kristi so I thought there might be a little hope of beating her to delivery. But the contractions were too far apart to worry about so I went back to sleep.

12:20AM- Baby Ashlynn Laura Vanderhoef is born. Congrats to Kristi & Casey!

2:00 AM- Contractions every 4 minutes that were definitely something to get excited over.

2:30 AM- I wake up Jake, we get Jen out of bed, and head for the hospital. Jake will get after me for not mentioning that I wanted to wait and time some more contractions, but he said "no, we're going." I need to give him the credit because we probably wouldn't have made it there. We called his mom to meet us at the hospital. Luckily Jen was happy and when we got out to the car she says, "it snowing!" and "Sista's comin!" So cute.

2:45 AM- I call my mom to let her know we're on our way to the hospital, and she says, "Are you kidding me?" Turns out they'd just gotten home from seeing baby Ashlynn (just down the road from where we were headed). The roads were bad and my parents almost wrecked on the way home so I told them to try and get some sleep and we'd call them when she came.

3:00 AM- Contractions every 2 minutes as we pull into the hospital parking lot. Get checked in as Jake goes outside to meet his mom.

3:15ish AM-Nurse checks and says I'm dilated to a 9.5. My eyes get wider and wider as she tells me they'll "try" for the epidural. Nurses are running around trying to get things gathered for an IV. The nurses were yelling down the hall at Jake to get in there or he might not make it. He comes in as they get the blue tubing thingy on my arm, then say, "bag it, we got a baby comin!"

3:25 AM- Our sweet baby is born! Jake says, "I think she looks like an Emma, Kate." I still just don't even know what happened it went by so fast! I was more nervous than I needed to be, I do know that. Having no epidural wasn't as bad as I thought, but again it went by so fast I didn't really have time to think about it. So there you have it! What a night!

Jentri's first reaction to her baby sister. A look of "Ok, what's really going on here?" She wasn't sure what to think when we told her there wasn't a baby in mommy's tummy anymore. She has since warmed up to Emma, and maybe loves her a bit TOO much if ya know what I mean. :) Jen loves to hold her and give her plenty of hugs and kisses. She's a sweet big sister and seems to be a bit protective of Emma. The first night we brought her home, Jen got upset when Emma was "sad" and crying. Jen cried too and said, "whas wong, Emma? Emma sad!" It was all too cute. She's such a sensitive thing and is always so aware of her surroundings and what everyone in the family is doing at any given time. What a cutie...

There are about a million more pics I want to post, but I think I'll hold off for now. Having two kids now is definitely an adjustment! I thought I didn't get anything else done with just Jen! :)It'll get easier, but it's going to take some time I think. We really are so blessed. Emma's a sweet baby and seems to be doing well here at home. She was a bit jaundiced the first few days we were home, but we were able to have the lights here at home so that was good. She's doing great! We are so blessed! We just need to make it over to see her twinner cousin sometime. Kinda fun...

Thanks so much for all the help and visits we've had since we've been home. We love and appreciate all of you! Thanks especially to our moms for being so great in helping with Jen and house work and all the countless things you're always doing for us. Hopefully I can be half the mom you both are! We love you!

Emma's Story (as told by Jake)

I will let Kate tell more about Emma when she gets a chance - but I wanted to let everyone know that she is here and doing well.

Emma Lee Price was born at 3:25 AM January 26th, 2009. Kate was checked into the hospital just 25 minutes earlier and Emma came before the nurses could give her an epidural - and before the doctor could get there. Kate, therefore, is the most amazing person I know! (no offense to all the other people I know - but how many of you have given birth naturally???)

Emma was 6 lbs 15 oz and 19 inches long with alot of dark hair. She is healthy as an ox! (Which is very fitting because she was born on Chinese new year with this year being the year of the ox.) Kate is also doing extremely well.

38 weeks and counting...

Hey everyone! I've been meaning to post Christmas stuff and haven't yet, but I wanted to give a quick update on the pregnancy! You might say I've been a little too anxious for this little one to come, so naturally she hasn't come yet. :) Technically we still have two weeks to go, but Jen was that early, so I've been expecting her to be the same. So far, not so much. Both last week and this week at my doctor's appt. I was dilated to a 1 and 50% effaced (is that how you spell it?), so nothing to be too excited about, but still is keeping me hopeful. We'll see how it goes!

I'm trying to just accept that she's coming when she's supposed to, but it's hard sometimes! Especially when you're pushing the cart at Wal-Mart and you're waddling so bad that Jentri thinks you're "dancing" and starts to sway with you. That's pretty bad! Ok, so I was having a few Braxton's whilst walking, but still. :)

I really am just glad that everything is going fine, and with everything that can go wrong, I should be grateful she's taking her time to be ready to join us. :) I'm trying to also take advantage of the time and get her room ready. We're going to move all my scrapbook stuff downstairs, which if I want to have any organization at all is going to take some time. I've got too much stuff!

Family Newsletter

Dearest Friends and Family,

We hope you are all doing well and your holidays are happy and eventful! 2008 has proved yet another busy year for the Price Family, and looking back we realize once again how blessed we are! Especially to have such wonderful friends and family who are so loving and supportive, we can’t do it without you!

Our sweet little Jentri Ann is growing by leaps and bounds every day. She is so animated, creative, curious, and will steal your heart, so watch out! We can’t believe how fast and how much she’s learned in her short 21 months. Although her first phrase in the morning is usually “watch a movie,” we try to keep her busy doing some of the other things she loves to do: coloring, reading books, running outside (even in the cold), playing with friends and cousins, “helping” mommy with anything and everything, dancing and singing songs, to name a few.

She’s been in nursery for three months and still isn’t too keen on the idea. She loves playing with the toys and other kids, just not by herself. She seems to be doing better, so we’ll see. She’s excited for baby sister to come in roughly six weeks! She loves babies and is so gentle and sweet with them. She’s going to be a great big sister!

A little update on the rest of us, Katie is living the high life as a stay at home mom. Tiring stuff, but oh so fun! She usually spends her days making peanut butter sandwiches, playing with blocks, and changing diapers. Her calling in Young Women’s keeps her plenty busy, but she’s learned a lot and loves being a part of her girls’ lives. She’s also teaching violin lessons one day a week to spice things up a bit. Winding down on pregnancy #2 is getting exciting! We’re anxious to add another little one to the mix and to see where life takes us from there! We have yet to choose a name for her, but I suppose we’ve still got some time. Hopefully her identity won’t be a mystery for too much longer.

Jake’s year has been a busy one. He’s decided that it’s pointless to root for the Aggie football team, and has changed his career path so he can be a Cougar. This fall he started his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering, and is now working for a civil firm, RB&G in Provo. Earlier this year he felt strongly that he needed to leave RMC but wasn’t sure why. The big round of layoffs two weeks later confirmed it was time for a change. His time at home is scarce these days, but Jen & I love to see him whenever we get the chance. On top of it all he teaches the 14-16 year olds in Sunday school, and loves doing that.

That’s us in a nutshell! Enjoy the Holidays, and know that we love and appreciate you! We’re also grateful to be able again to celebrate the birth of our Savior. He lives! May He be a constant guide in our lives!
